Santa Claus office in Rovaniemi is closed temporarily due to the corona epidemic situations. Ski resorts and other tourist places also closing this year in the middle of the season. Tour operators and all other tourism service providers in Lapland has also cancelled upcoming operations for this spring season. 

According to Santa’s office, due to COVID-19 pandemic, we have decided to close our doors temporarily here in Santa Claus Office. By this measure we want to be even more responsible in these exceptional and difficult times. 

So, from now on there will not be any possibility to meet Santa in Santa Claus village.

It will be still possible to meet Santa Claus but in online. People can meet Santa Claus daily on the Santa Claus Office website  via a live stream. Starting tomorrow 23rd March at 1 pm (UTC +2). 

Because of the changing scenario of corona epidemic in Finland, the ski centres in lapland announced to close their operation immediately. The Ylläs, Levi, Luosto, Olos, Pallas ja Ounasvaara ski centres are closed from 22 March. The other ski centres in Pyhä-Luosto and Ruka will be closed 23 March. 

At the moment 626 corona virus patients confirmed in Finland and the numbers of affected people are increasing day by day. One corona virus affected patient had died yesterday. The Government urges everyone to stay home and avoid all kind of travel plans. The borders are closed with other countries and travel restrictions are imposed for everyone. Finland declared state of emergency till 13 April 2020.
