Attractions in Enontekiö- Kilpisjärvi

Enontekiö’s attractions are clearly mostly in nature, however there are few museums and a handful of music festivals in the region as well! The bird tower in Yrjö Kokko provides breathtaking views of the Ounasjoki River. Terbmispahta, Meekonpahta, and Pihtsusköngas are enormous and magnificent waterfalls worth.

The Enontekiö Local History Museum

The Enontekiö Local History Museum opened to the public in 1991 after being formed in 1987. The museum is located in a historic area that was inhabited by Mesolithic Stone Age people between 5000 and 7000 years ago.

Saana and Halti

The spirits of Saana and Halti were once worshipped to ensure a successful hunt. These majestic peaks still leave you speechless today. Halti, at 1324 meters, is Finland’s tallest peak, and Saana at 1029 meters with is peculiar form is the most well-known. Halti is located on the Finnish-Norwegian border, with established hiking and skiing trails beginning from Kilpisjärvi.

Three Nation’s Border Point

At the Three Nation’s Border Point, the boundaries of Finland, Sweden, and Norway intersect. During the summer, you can take the Malla boat from Kilpisjärvi to Koltalahti to reach there. It takes little over three kilometers to walk from Koltalahti to the point. Walk 11 kilometers through Malla Strict Nature Reserve to reach the point.

Pihtsusköngäs Waterfall

The Pihtsusköngäs waterfall on the Pihtsusjoki River is one of Finland’s largest, with a drop of 17 meters. It’s roughly 45 kilometers from Kilpisjärvi along a hiking trail.

Jyppyrä Campfire hut

Next to village of Hetta, Jyppyrä rises 400 meters above sea level. The Pallas-Ounastunturi fell chain can be seen from the top. Jyppyrä is situated about 900 meters from the Fell Lapland Nature Visitor Center.
