How to Find Accessible and Easy Nature Trails

Accessible nature trails are usually built with hard-surfaced and wide wood, and there are no obstacles or considerable altitude differences. These trails usually also have accessible dry toilets, fireplaces and sometimes even bird towers or nature observing platforms. If you’re traveling with mobility aid, you will also need someone to tag along.  It’s good to keep in mind that seasons and weather conditions can affect the trails condition. A trail that’s in perfectly good condition on a sunny summer day is completely different six months forward. It’s good to explore the services and other information of your chosen destinations before traveling, so you can find the most suitable trails for your needs. You’re always welcome to contact nature centers or customer service points if you have any questions or you need help with planning your adventure. Accessible trails can be found at Nationalparks.fi Search on Map by choosing >> Destinations’s features >> Accessible Destinations . Some popular trails are Arctic Circle Hiking Area near Rovaniemi , Hossa National Park south from Kuusamo and Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park and Urho Kekkonen National Park near Saariselkä.

Effortless Fell Views

Whether you’re skiing or not, you can still go up the fells and enjoy the amazing lofty views of Lapland, as well as the restaurants and cafes with the views. Ylläs. Levi and Ruka ski resorts have gondola lifts running daily (weather permitting) during winter and summer seasons, and it takes you all the way to the top of fells within minutes. The same gondola tour ticket takes you up and down the fell, and the prices vary between 10-14€ for adults. The gondola lifts are wheelchair and pet accessible and can take a perambulator. Activity, Accommodation & Restaurant Tips

There’s a lot more to experience in Lapland than nature trails, and most of them are accessible for everyone. Husky and reindeer safaris, snowmobile safaris, northern lights hunting, sightseeing, museums to mention a few. Public transportation in Lapland welcomes all travelers onboard, but keep in mind that you might have to pay extra for large equipment on some trains and coaches when buying your ticket. Most hotels and restaurants in Lapland have entrances, lifts and unobstructed rooms and common areas, so everyone moving with prams. mobility aid etc. can enjoy the services. When you’re searching for services to use, you can always google for example ‘’accessible hotels in Lapland’’ and you’ll get plenty of options to choose from. It’s always good to call the reception to make sure that they’re ready to give the best possible welcome.
