My Overnight Hiking Packing List

For those who do not know me yet: My name is Kaat and I did my internship at Visit Lapland!

I set myself a challenge here in Finland: stay overnight in a cabin in the woods. I’ve been wanting to go and discover the east of Finland close to the Sala and parts of the Karhunkierros Trail. I’m trying to figure out how convenient this would be as a choice to stay overnight and hike 2 days, but I’ll keep you posted on that! Planning a bit ahead means to me: making a packing list!

Hiking for beginners

When I was younger, we regularly went camping, we went for long walks trough forests and fields and I read maps occasionally.  Something like a two-day hike probably sounds very easy for a lot of people, yet I have never hiked somewhere to stay overnight in the middle of nowhere. Therefore, for me this is a challenge.

I see myself as quite the beginner when it comes to hiking and I love it! But I haven’t done a lot of difficult paths or reached a lot of mountain peaks.

Young people and travellers want to explore nature more and more. I don’t think I’m the only traveller wanting to explore the outdoors more and be closer to nature. If you’re a beginner like me, I think you can relate! I’m glad my dad is such a handy man. I definitely learned al kinds of bits and bobs from him throughout my youth without realising it. I’m grateful for that and the sense for adventure I got from him.

Tag along my hiking adventure!

Since I’m sharing my journey, I might as well share my own packing list.
