Ski Season In Lapland Has Begun

The ski season of 2022-2023 has officially kicked off in the Finnish Lapland as two locations in the north, Levi and Ruka, opened their first ski slopes and tracks on Friday 7th of October. The most enthusiastic skiers, including professionals, have the advanced opportunity to stretch their feet and skills on real snow, which is stored from last spring.

The daily visitor number is still low, and the busiest season isn’t expected to pick up before mid November – along with minus temperatures and permanent snow cover. The ideal weather for maintaining the ski slopes and tracks comes with the fresh snow cover, and -10°C round-the-clock temperature, according to the staff of Levi Ski Resort. Some parts of Northern Lapland have already experienced the first snow the season.
