In addition to magnificent natural beauty, Kemijärvi has a rich culture and history. The artist residency serves as a centre for international artist exchange as well as local cultural activities. During exhibitions and activities, the house is open to the public. You may learn about peasant life and traditional livelihoods at the Local History Museum at the turn of 1700s and 1800s. In the region, there is also a snowmobile and sawmill museum.

Kemijärvi artist residence is located in the city centre of Kemijärvi and is a old building made of stone. It is one of the biggest guesthouses in Finland and a local culture centre. It gives opportunity for international artist exchange.
