Lapland in the eyes of Tourists
Lapland’s tourism is booming. People from all over the world decide to Visit Lapland and enjoy the holidays either in Rovaniemi, the middle of nowhere or another smaller city in Lapland. But how is Lapland in the eyes of tourists? What is special about it? We interviewed some people who recently spent their holiday in Lapland and asked them about their opinion.
Isolde and Gregor from Germany
Isolde from Germany visited Lapland in once in November and once in April. She really enjoyed Lapland because of its calm atmosphere and the beautiful nature around. She also mentioned that people in Lapland seem very happy and balanced, which also had a good impact on her mood. Further, she experienced that local people are very open and friendly towards tourists. For her the highlight of the trips to Lapland was seeing the Northern Lights and to go on a snowmobile ride with beautiful weather in Kilpisjärvi. In addition, she really enjoyed the landscape with the beautiful red wooden houses and seeing reindeer around.
Gregor, also from Germany described Lapland as “being in a different world”. In his experience Lapland helped a lot to come down and realize what is important in life. Further, travelling was stressless, which he noted as a big plus for the destination. He was really impressed by the local people because almost everyone speaks perfectly english. Also, in his opinion all people he met were helpful and attentive. The same he thinks about restaurants in Lapland. They have a high online presence and a feel-good atmosphere. For him the highlight of the trip, was to go on a snowmobile ride and for hikes in some national parks.
Monica, Annalisa and Leonardo from Italy
Monica from Italy was already twice in Lapland: once in Summer and once in Winter. For her seeing the Northern Lights at a lake was the highlight of her stay in Lapland. She also enjoyed a lot going for small hikes and walks through the nature and the forests here. Also she really likes the lakes with are located in beautiful scenery here. According to her, the atmosphere in Lapland is connected a lot to nature and is feels very cozy and calm. When she thinks about Lapland, the first thing that comes into her mind is the peace, calmness and nature.
Francesco, who was travelling with Monica, pointed out how clean Lapland is for him and how much space nature gets here. He realized the beauty of a happy life and how important in can get to be in contact with nature. For him also the inhabitants live a very calm life, which creates a nice atmosphere here. Also, his highlight of the trip, was seeing the Northern Lights, in italian called Aurora boreale. Further, also going snowmobiling was one of his favorite activities here.
For Annalisa, also from Italy, her trip to Lapland, was one of her dreams, that she managed to realize. Despite of her big dream of seeing the Northern Lights, she really enjoyed a husky ride in the lappish nature. She also said that Lapland has a great variaty of high quality hotels.
