Kittilä

Welcome to Kittilä, a municipality with population of 6 500 inhabitants, in a rugged northern region of Finnish Lapland. Besides the municipal centre, there are around 30 other villages in the area of Kittilä, where population vary from fewer than 10 people to a few hundred. Kittilä is rich with culture and history – The earliest inhabitants of the Kittilä area are assumed to be from the Bronze Age and Stone Age dating back to 3,500–3,000 years ago.

Ski resort Levi in Kittilä, is Finland’s most popular year-round tourist and event destination with wide range of activities for everyone. Agnico Eagle Finland Oy’s mine in Kittilä is Europe’s largest gold mine. Kittilä is home to a number of artist residences as well as other tourism and cultural attractions. Kittilä Airport is a bustling international airport with numerous connections to Finland and the rest of Europe. Also railway connections to Kolari and Rovaniemi, where you can catch a bus directed to Kittilä.
